It does feel like the net is closing in with more friends, colleagues, clients and neighbours coming down with this deadly virus, both symptomatic and asymptomatic. I had my vaccine over a month ago now and well that net now appears to be closing in on the unvaccinated and I feel happy to be excluded from the potential catch. Yet I'm left worried about my family members still awaiting their invite and if unlucky to contract the virus, how might it affect them????
I'm also working on the COVID-19 vaccination clinics and today I met a lady who lives alone. She said I was the first person she had seen and spoke to for some time and that it felt great to talk to someone, despite the masks. Simple pleasures eh?
Just praying for the deaths to subside and the infection rate to drop and hopefully we can get out of this depressing lockdown. I do think we will be changed for a long time to come and some of the new customs I hope stick. I quite liked not having a bad cold over Christmas & New Year so I think wearing mask will probably never look out of place again.
These are certainly challenging times and frightening too. I'm missing my clients, the chats, the advice on all sorts of things, the laughs and the happy medicine. Yet I'm also concerned that they all keep safe and well, that we all get through this in one piece.
Nursing in the NHS remains rewarding and I think we will all be changed for ever. I expect that some aspects emerging from the new way of working will become engrained in the NHS culture certainly for the rest of my career and I don't think that is necessary a negative thing to happen.
The heartbreaking stories of fallen NHS staff is truly sad and so too are the stories of everyone else. Yet I'm inspired by the creativeness of Matt Lucas with the Baked Potato song; the resilience of Captain Tom and all the money he has raised; moved by seeing all the rainbows in the neighbours windows and in awe of the kindness displayed of my neighbours toward our elderly neighbours.
Well friends .... until next time, stay safe in the sun and safe at home. Lots of Love and warmest wishes.
